Pogonovo Combined Arms Training Ground near Voronezh is one of the Russian Ground Forces' primary training and pre-deployment staging areas in the Western Military District. The facility has been extensively documented in open-source satellite imagery throughout the Russia-Ukraine war as a major staging and marshalling area for Russian combined-arms units rotating to and from the Ukrainian theatre. Commercial imagery reviewed by analysts from Bellingcat, Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT), and associated OSINT groups has captured large vehicle concentrations including T-72B3/T-90M tanks, BMP-2/BMP-3 IFVs, MSTA-S and 2S19 Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled artillery, and TOS-1A thermobaric rocket systems staged at Pogonovo during pre-deployment periods. The training ground's position in Voronezh Oblast, approximately 200 km north of the Ukrainian border, makes it a key monitoring indicator for Russian force generation and deployment cycles.
