Commercial imagery of Morozovsk Air Base in April 2025 provides the current apron-occupancy baseline. Morozovsk remains one of the most consistently imagery-productive Russian air bases for AI-assisted aircraft detection, with Su-34 Fullback airframes visible in open revetment positions and dispersal areas across the main apron. The large planform of the Su-34 — approximately 23 metres in length with a broad delta-canard wing configuration — produces strong AI detection signatures even at the ground sample distances typical of commercial imagery. Vehicle compounds adjacent to the apron contain maintenance equipment, fuel vehicles, and ground support equipment detectable by multi-object detection models. April 2025 imagery also captures any post-winter changes to revetment construction, apron surface condition, and air-defence positioning relative to the mid-2024 baseline.

Assessment Note:

Morozovsk's ongoing role as a Ukrainian strike target means that aircraft counts and apron configurations may change rapidly between imagery acquisition dates. An aircraft present in an April 2025 image may have been destroyed, damaged, or repositioned within weeks. The use of earthen revetments and dispersal positions means that not all aircraft at the base will be visible from any single overhead image acquisition angle. Active maintenance and repair activity on strike-damaged airframes adds interpretation complexity.

Air-defence system identification from commercial satellite imagery is inherently limited — distinguishing Pantsir-S1, Tor-M2, or Buk-M3 launchers from other military vehicles requires sub-metre resolution and specific image conditions not always available in publicly released products. The effectiveness of earthen revetments against drone-delivered munitions varies significantly with munition type, approach vector, and blast geometry.
